Finally Visiting Texas.. Part 01
So first of all, Texas smells like a dog wore shoes for two days and pissed on them before sticking them in a dryer. If you’re ever wondering what it smells like.
I have been wanting and have been trying to visit Texas for at least three years now, it has just always been something. Finances just not lining up, expecting a baby, having a baby, raising a damn baby. There has always been something come up that we have not been able to make the 12+ hour drive. Flying isn’t an option either because again the money just has not worked out.
We had finally planned on trying to make it to Texas for one of my nieces last softball games but some events changed that entirely, we ended up opting to only going for Graduation. This was something that under no circumstances I would be missing.
I could not be more happy, proud, and sad. Seeing a kid you helped teach math to graduating High School with a scholarship is a pretty crazy feeling and it’s hard not to be a little upset at the realizations that, that little asshole is now an adult and going to be on their own.
A few hours, couple hundred miles, a mental breakdown or two later and here we are. The clarity and regret now that I am home is hitting pretty hard.
After the 12+ hour drive one way it sounds like and was a lot, but I feel like I could have done it more often than this being the first time. I know I missed a lot and I hate it so much. Anyways, back to the positive and fun things.
One of the funniest things was Delilah having her own camera to take photos of, I haven’t seen them all yet and I am excited. It was such a big trip for everyone. Staying in hotels in Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. Over 400 edited photos in the span of 5 days is pretty decent. I think highly of some, not highly of most.
I still can’t believe that I took some of these. The memories for everyone It is so fucking awesome everything we were able to do, most importantly though from this trip was being able to see KB graduate High School and being there in person to capture that for everyone.
Insane to believe it has been over 12 years since teaching you math and learning I didn’t have very good patients with kids. So fucking awesome to see you graduate! Even though it was hot as balls!!
ANYWAYS, I don’t need to have another breakdown at 10:52pm while trying to finish most of this out (hopefully all). I still have so many photos to add.
Graduation was pretty awesome and I still have the photos on film to get developed at some point too. I did not use film as much as I thought I would on this trip either, I don’t have a reason for not either other than everything was hectic.
It would be a lot easier if I was able to add in a collapsable gallery so you could expand it if wanting to, but it be optional. I would like to add all of the graduation photos here but if I do it will make the Blog forever long and you would have too scroll down so much just to read more. Damn Texas trip was so much I should have split the Blog into more than one. Here we are though, don’t have time for that.
Fuck it, I am adding the entire Graduation gallery under this photo. Scroll further for more unnecessary stories and photos that are decent enough to share but not good enough to really do much about. Oh we climbed a fucking mountain, you can see more of that after the graduation stuff.
This is going to be my biggest blog I have ever created on here, I really should do a Part 01 and a Part 02..
Delilah and I continued our new found hobby of photo walks together. She will get her own little blog post once she can get her photos off of her camera and edit them on her own, I am looking forward to seeing that.
It wasn’t a super far walk, a burnt down Chinese restaurant close to our hotel was pretty perfect for some photos.
It was also a foggy morning for Texas so it could not have been more awesome to photo, we got very fortunate with everything. A lot of unexpected that worked out amazing for us.
So much character and contrast in the photos utilizing the colors and haziness. A lot of the photos I took I stayed above f/4 to make everything more crisp and sharp!
So not only did we get a pretty cool abandoned looking building, found a weather damaged photo album with dates showing from 2009, I thought that was a pretty neat and fitting things. This entire photo walk was a pretty fun time and all things with an abandoned type building, slight fog, wasn’t super hot, the only downside of the walk was Delilah’s camera died pretty quick.
Holy shit, with the uploads taking forever I am now sitting here at 11:47pm so I am calling it quits for the night. I am also now realizing the Part 01 and Part 02 should have happened and next time I have the idea of doing that I will right then haha.
I think going to sleep and coming back tomorrow to read over everything already said with fresh mind will be helpful. I could also scrap a lot too but I think It will be positive regardless.
Note to add: I will be updating the printshop tomorrow with photos from the trip, so the beautiful mountains and buffalo photos will be an option in the print shop! It has needed to be updated anyways and this will be perfect timing.
I also am going to finally finalize the brochures tomorrow too and hopefully get some ordered. I need to financially recover from the trip though. Will photo for money if any readers know anyone. I am decent so I charge accordingly hahaha!
6:25am, currently trying to sign into my account to add more print options into the Print Shop, it has been a very long time since I have added anything!
7:58am, the Print Shop is about to not exist.. All of my old prints are gone, suddenly all of the canvas size options were gone without any alternative options.
I have added at this time 4 new prints, I will start making prints limited so that this issue does not happen again.
It was allowing people to still place orders and spend money, had I not caught this I would have looked like shit so I will try and do better monitoring this.
I am going to have to Part 02 this because of the amount of technical issues I have had and the amount I still have to add. This blog is way longer than I expected hahaha.
Long story short with this one, I am so thankful for the time I got to experience in Texas, it was a much overdue and needed trip. The time with family I got to spend I did not want It to come to an end. I have missed my sister and bother in law and niece so much. Texting, gaming, FaceTime, any means of communication just is not the same.
I can’t wait for another trip and getting to see everyone again, more dinners, more photos, just more time.
I will start on Part 02 probably today.
We are so proud of you Nana.
